Earth Collection
The choice of earth samples is determined by the concepts of the
One-Earth-Altar which strives for local, global, inter-religious and internation representation.
The "One-World-Church" is the church of the protestant-lutheran
Markus-parish Schneverdingen. Up to 1000 earth books are reserved for
this parish which its members contribute from their gardens, fields and
meadows or - many members are refugees - from their hometowns.

A further 1000 earthbooks are reserved for places that have special
meaning for the world views of the people. Apart from earth from
Jericho, Egypt, Bethlehem and Jerusalem and other sites of early
Christianity, earth from places important ot other religions and other
historical periods will be present. This representation is an essentiell
part of the art concepts of the "One-Earth-Altar".
The remaining 5000 earth books contain earth samples from all
continents, from the member states of the UN, from the participating
contries of the EXPO2000, from the oceans and from places of important
events.
